What Do Drone Services Cost?
The factors that drive drone service pricing across sectors, and how to get a fair quote without overpaying.
What drives the price
Site size and travel, the payload needed (a basic camera costs far less to fly than LiDAR or radiometric thermal), processing time, accuracy requirements, crew size, permits and turnaround. Processing and reporting is often more than half the cost.
Typical pricing models
Photo and video work is often a flat package. Surveying and mapping is usually priced per acre or per project. Inspections may be per asset (per turbine, per tower) or per day. Spraying is usually per acre. Public safety programs are often priced as training, consulting or equipment packages.
How to keep costs down
Bundle repeat visits (e.g. monthly progress flights), share existing CAD or boundary files, be flexible on dates for weather, and only ask for the accuracy you actually need.
Red flags
A quote far below others may mean no insurance, no processing included, or consumer-grade equipment. Ask what is excluded before you accept.
